Review of the future organization and methods of work of the Commission on Population and Development
Pursuant to the forty-eighth session of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) in 2015, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) decided that the Commission shall review the functioning of its methods of work during its forty-ninth session in 2016. The purpose of the review is to enhance the impact of the work of the Commission and its contribution to the Economic and Social Council. The Council therefore requested the Secretariat, in consultation with Member States and UNFPA, to prepare a note for consideration by the Commission at its forty-ninth session (ECOSOC decision 2015/252). In response to this decision and in order to draft the note, the Secretariat is soliciting input from Member States, UN entities and international organizations and civil society on the functioning of the CPD. This consultation process was endorsed by the Bureau of the CPD on 15 September 2015.
